A Letter from the Teacher
Greetings,
My name is Scott Targosz and I will be your child’s Jr. High Social Studies teacher. I have had the pleasure of meeting many of you at the PTA “Meet the Teachers” event earlier this year. For those who have not met me, I am a third year teacher from Illinois State University. I am highly motivated individual and work hard to make the classroom a safe and fun learning environment. I try to incorporate many different enrichment activities and projects that are student centered. I feel a successful classroom is created by presenting the classroom content in creative ways that students can relate to. I have recently transitioned my class to paperless. All assignments are available online and students are no longer able to lose their work. However, I understand not everyone has access to the internet and technology needed to partake in a paperless class. All materials are available in paper/pencil form, which some students prefer. I will try to accommodate every situation as best I can. I have already reviewed my classroom policies and procedures with the students. This may be a student's second or third year in my classroom. The students know that I have very high expectations for all of them. I truly believe they have the capabilities to meet the expectations which I have set forth. A lot of the work this year will be student centered and require self-motivation. Students are getting older and are at the age where they can handle more responsibility. In addition to providing students with more responsibility, I will try my best to foster organization skills in all of my students. This year your child will be diving into many different topics in the Social Studies classroom. I am a firm believer that students need to be assessed in many different ways. I will be assigning homework throughout the year, but still providing students time to work on these assignments. Students will have series of tests and quizzes throughout the year. Students will also have many different projects to complete as the year goes on. I will always provide students with different project options to choose from whenever I assign them. This means the students will be able to pick projects that focus on their strengths and are conducive to their academic success. I also have the students get their rubric signed for each project to inform parents that a project has been assigned I look forward to teaching all of your children this year. If you ever need to contact me for any reason email me at [email protected]. I check my email every day and will try to get back to you in a timely manner. I know an open line of communication is an important aspect in your child’s education. Please remember I am here to help whenever you may need it. Thank you for your time, Scott Targosz |
